Pap test, HPV & Colposcopy

At Women Wellness Clinic, we offer comprehensive cervical cancer screening and diagnostic services to detect abnormalities early and provide timely interventions to protect your reproductive health. Our Pap test, HPV testing, and colposcopy service is designed to detect cervical abnormalities, including precancerous changes, and guide appropriate management and treatment.

Pap Test (Pap Smear):

The Pap test, also known as Pap smear, is a simple and painless screening test used to detect abnormal cervical cells that may indicate precancerous changes or cervical cancer. During the Pap test, a small sample of cells is gently collected from the cervix using a brush or spatula and then sent to the laboratory for examination under a microscope. Our experienced healthcare professionals recommend Pap testing for individuals aged 21 to 65 years, typically every three to five years, depending on your age and risk factors.

HPV Testing:

Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection that can cause cervical cancer and other reproductive health issues. HPV testing is often performed in conjunction with the Pap test to identify high-risk HPV strains that may increase the risk of cervical cancer. The HPV test can detect the presence of HPV DNA in cervical cells and help determine the need for further evaluation and management. Our healthcare professionals may recommend HPV testing as part of routine cervical cancer screening or in cases where Pap test results are inconclusive.

Colposcopy:

Colposcopy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the cervix, vagina, and vulva for signs of abnormal changes or precancerous lesions. During colposcopy, a special magnifying instrument called a colposcope is used to visualize the cervical tissue and identify any areas of concern. If abnormal areas are detected, our healthcare professionals may perform a biopsy to obtain tissue samples for further evaluation. Colposcopy is often recommended for individuals with abnormal Pap test results, positive HPV test results, or other risk factors for cervical cancer.

Follow-up and Treatment:

Based on the results of Pap testing, HPV testing, and colposcopy, our healthcare professionals will recommend appropriate follow-up and treatment options as needed. This may include close monitoring with repeat testing, further diagnostic procedures such as biopsy or endocervical curettage, or treatment procedures to remove abnormal cervical tissue, such as loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) or cryotherapy.

Education and Counseling:

We provide education and counseling on cervical cancer prevention, HPV vaccination, safe sex practices, and reproductive health screening guidelines. Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and resources to make informed decisions about your health and take proactive steps to protect your reproductive health.
